A Month Full of Water and Dogs. And Books.
Also, here’s the updated cover art for SPIRITS REVIVED, Daisy’s seventh book, which will be published by Five Star in March 2014. I love this cover. It looks ever so much more twenties-ish than the first rendition did:
Then, merciful heavens, we actually had RAIN in September. Seven inches of it in a single day, actually. That was a teensy bit too much, as you can see in the following photographs. You can see the sunken garden in Cahoon Park as it’s Supposed to be and as it was after all the rain on September 12. It looks like it’s supposed to now:
And then there were the dogs. I was down to one foster dog (Mr. Sausage) when suddenly I was asked to take in Santana, who was actually FLOWN to Roswell by a flying saint-type person. Then Cindy, who had been adopted, decided to eat her new owner’s Chihuahua, so she came back to me. Cindy’s a sweetheart, and so are Mr. Sausage and Santana, but this means I’m caring for eight dogs, which is at least five too many. Sob!
But what the heck! Please enter my October contest, in which I’ll be giving away a couple of copies of ANCIENT SPIRITS, Daisy Gumm Majesty’s sixth adventure. If you win, you may have it in hardback or as an e-book for Kindle or NOOK. If you want to enter, just send me an email to alice@aliceduncan.net and I’ll throw your name into my special contest doggie dish.

Alice, dogs know a good person when they meet one, which is why they migrate toward you. You're so nice to save all the dogs you have. All that and I also love your books. What a great person you are! Keep it up.
Ah, all those good dogs should bring oceans of good luck, especially when it rains (cats and ...)
I agree, dogs know good people. They have that instinct! I love dogs too and wish I could have that many! Keep up the good work with them and your books too. :) That was a LOT of rain at once. That seems to be how the desert likes to do it though, don't you think?
Hi, Alice,
Yep, it's true. Dogs have that special 6th sense. They can smell out kind-hearted people. So there you go!
Hope you sell lots of books this month (me too!)
Thanks, everyone. I don't feel like a good person. I feel like an idiot. But I like your take on it better than mine! :-)
And oh, Jacquie, I hope you're right about both of us. It would be a nice change to sell a whole lot of books!
You are so kind to help those little cuties~
Thanks, Una. If you say so :-)
Alice, apparently you have a good soul and dogs sense that! My Mom did too, she loved you! And btw I brought that rain to NM. I'm sorry I forgot to turn it off. :) And one last thing. At least you attract weenie dogs and not golden retrievers with all their hair! :)
Oh, yeah! For years now I've been glad I didn't start rescuing great Danes or something. Wiener dogs shed a little, but nothing like goldens or shelties. but I really DO have too many dogs. I remember your mom's Princess. So sad, what happened to her. Well, and your mom, too :(
