May and June

Okay, so things didn’t go quite as planned during the merry month of May. I had been scheduled for hip-replacement surgery on May 3, but I got a sudden, acute medical problem, and the surgery was postponed until May 24. Therefore, most of June has been spent in recovering from my hip operation and trying to figure out what’s wrong with my intestines. I know. How disgusting. But it’s a problem, and I don’t know what to do about it.

Anyhow, the hip-replacement surgery and rehab are going well. I can tell the hip is much better because now my back pain is killing me again. However, I do believe there’s something that might be done about that, so I’m not in flat despair yet. Maybe later.

BRUISED SPIRITS, Daisy Gumm Majesty’s tenth (it’s actually the eleventh, but who’s counting?) adventure will be published August 8. Here’s the cover art and the Kindle link. I don’t think it’s up on Barnes & Noble or the other places yet:

If you entered a contest of mine for either May or June, please feel free to choose any old book you want of mine, and I’ll send you a copy, providing I have one. You can see most of them on my web page (which probably needs to be updated. I’ve not been good for much lately):

Also, Smashwords, on which most of my back-list historical romances and a few cozy mysteries are published in any e-format you want, is having a half-price sale during July, so you can snap up a copy of any old book you want (of mine, I mean) here:

I’ll give away copies of BRUISED SPIRITS at the end of July (or as soon as I get copies). I can send the e-book as soon as August 8 rolls around.

If you’d like to enter my July contest, please send me your name and home address as follows:

Thank you! Please visit my Facebook page if you like, too:

Okay. I’ll go away now. This is the first time I’ve tried to send a newsletter over Mail Chimp, so I hope this works!

Thank you!

Glad to hear you're feeling better-ish. I hear you on the back pain, too. Why does it always seem like by the time one thing gets better, something else starts hurting. Looking forward to the next Maisie Gumm.

Thanks, Ann Louise! I know. Now that the hip pain is gone, the back pain is taking over again. It's stupid. Plus, I just had cataract surgery. This getting-old nonsense is for the birds!

It sounds like you're on the mend, mostly. And your blog looks great--all those links. I'm impressed.

Thanks, Susan. Next Wednesday, I get to see the back-pain doctor! I might actually be fully functional one of these days :-)

Ah, it's always small steps, isn't it Alice? I'm glad at least one area is starting to improve and hopefully the others will too. Yes, I'm not a fan of getting old either...but I won't go into MY issues. I just hope YOURS are soon dealt with and that you'll be feeling better!

Thanks, Cam! I hope your issues are deal-with-able. I guess there's nothing to be done about getting old except to die, and that seems a trifle drastic, you know?

Glad you are somewhat better. I just wanted to say, I love your Daisy Gumm Majesty series. I only discovered her this year and have read the whole series. I am looking forward to book 11 and the wait will be hard, lol. But, your health must come first. As someone with stomach issues myself, I sympathize. Feel better!!

Thank you so much, Karen! Wish I could write faster, but, unfortunately, I have to earn a living for my wiener dogs and me. I've got the next one started! I appreciate your comments a whole, whole lot. Oh, and my hip is fine. Now my back is killing me, but it's been killing me for years, so there you go. I'm still undergoing physical therapy, now more for my back than my hip. Sigh.
